Lucky blocks.. with a surprise!

My cute Grandma asked me to make some "Lucky blocks" for her.. of course I said, "Yes!"

 I LOVE custom orders
and am willing to make YOU
something special too!

So I set out to find some paper while conning my hubby into cutting the blocks for me ;)

Picking out paper is honestly the hardest part for me! I probably spent a good hour going back and forth between like 20 patterns...
I finally decided on these cute green (very traditional) cardstocks.
Next I sanded, (the WORST part) painted and prepped the blocks for the paper.

My Grandma wanted vinyl on these so they would last better, so I cut out most of the vinyl myself. (Choosing a font was also a hard part) I must have a hard time making decisions.., I'm sure my husband could tell you all about it! Ha :)

I love the way they turned out! But the best part might be the surprise on the back...

They double as a "Spring" set too!!
I'm all about the reversible, "kill two birds with one stone" kind of crafts!
I made some extra for anyone who would like some! Shoot me an e-mail (mckailajohnson@gmail.com) or check out my Esty shop here!
Thanks for taking a look!

Lacy Scalloped Boot cuffs

I just LOVE these boot cuffs.. I also love the fact that anyone can wear them..
even if you have fat calves like me!
They accent any pair of boots and look good on everyone!
These are definitely a win-win!

All you need to do to get some of these cute cuffs..

1. Measure your calves about where the cuffs will fit.
(try on your boots, to see exactly where your cuffs will need to be snug)

2. Choose your color(s)!

These really are one of my most favorite thing to make,
because everyone loves them after they get them on!
You can order through my Esty shop here
or shoot me an e-mail mckailajohnson@gmail.com

St. Patricks Day Banner

I have a clear obsession with banners! But I didn't have one for St. Patricks Day, and with all my Valentines stuff taken down, my mantle was looking pretty bare. To help liven it up bit, I made this cute (if I do say so myself) burlap banner with little crocheted shamrocks
 (my FAVORITE part!)

It's 6 feet long, but can be "spread out" more to fit a larger hanging space.

I handmade these cute little shamrocks (in a lime and dark green) and stitched them on so they are nice and secure. Aren't they great!?

It between the burlap flags are these bundles of tulle, fabric, ribbon and yarn bows
that just pull it all together.

I love the way it turned out, and would be happy to make one for you!
Check it out in my just opened Etsy shop here!

"Sling-ing" in style!

So my little princess (age 4) broke her arm (her RIGHT arm, none the less) at cheerleading practice last week. Her break is "un-cast-able" and she will have to wear a sling for the next month... which was great news! (she really was SO lucky!) But when the doctor handed her a boring old blue sling, she wasn't so excited. She might only be 4, but she still has a fashion sense! I thought, why not make our own?! Now, I still consider myself a beginner seamstress, but this was SUPER easy!

We headed to the store and found this cute "Strawberry Shortcake" fabric, along with matching ribbon for a strap and bias tape for the edge. We also were lucky enough to find the metal piece to hold the strap up. I literally just traced around the blue sling from the doctor to make the pattern and went to town.

She also wanted it "soft" (duh, right?) So despite the fact that her arm would be hot, I found this fleece to add inside for her comfort. A girls gotta be comfortable!

And for fun we found some buttons to add some flair.. so cute right? You wouldn't even know her arm is injured the way she's been carrying on. I have to tell her to be careful!

Now, hopefully she feels a bit better about wearing a sling, since hers is SO cute!
